The Berger Hunting bullet line features Very Low Drag (VLD) bullets that have a high ballistic coefficient, designed for use at distances of 300 yards or more. The VLD design includes a sharp nose, which allows the bullet to penetrate 2-3 inches before it starts to expand. After this initial expansion, the bullet will shed between 40% and 85% of its weight as shrapnel into the surrounding tissue. The combination of the shrapnel and hydrostatic shock produces a large wound cavity within the vital area, which will be 13-15 inches long.
