The Berger Hunting bullet line features Very Low Drag (VLD) bullets that are designed with a high ballistic coefficient, ideal for distances of 300 yards or more. The VLD design includes a sharp nose that allows the bullet to penetrate 2-3 inches before it begins to expand. Upon this initial expansion, the bullet sheds between 40% and 85% of its weight as shrapnel into the surrounding tissue. This combination of shrapnel and hydrostatic shock creates a substantial wound cavity within the vital area, typically measuring 13-15 inches in length.
